News and Events

Dear residents in Japan who are kindly considering breast milk donation in Japan,

Thank you very much for your interest in the activities of The Nippon Foundation Human Milk Bank and the donor registration.

You can donate your breast milk to our bank subject to qualifying both blood screening test and medical interview at a donor registration facility in Japan.

The donor registration procedure is as follows;

First, you need to fill out the application form in Japanese on our Japanese web page;
[Donor Registration Application Page (Japanese)]
We are afraid we only have the Japanese form at this moment.

After you provide all necessary information and submit the form, your application will be reviewed by us. You will later receive instructions about the medical interview and blood screening test appointment. If results are satisfactory, you will be registered as a donor. Then you can milk and ship your breast milk by using “Cool TA-Q-BIN.”

Please note that you have to visit in person one of the following donor registration facilities for the medical interview and blood screening test;

*Medical interview in English is only available at Showa Medical University Hospital in Tokyo.

Please note that appointment at a donor registration facility is assigned about a few weeks after we receive your application. Blood screening test results are reported to us after another two weeks. If you qualify, you will receive instructions to start milking.

Human milk banks in Japan provide donor milk only to those babies born under 1,500 grams (3.3 lbs) at NICUs. Thus, please be mindful of the thorough onboarding process and strict standard for donor registration.

Thank you very much for your kind understanding.

Sincerely,
The Nippon Foundation Human Milk Bank
