Creating Options to Save Little Lives
Japan's neonatal care is one of the best globally, and many infants weighing less than 1,000 grams survive. When babies are saved, I want them to grow healthier. I think this is a wish that everyone has. Especially for infants born small, the way they are nourished after being stabilized makes a big difference in their prognosis. Nutrition that puts too much strain on their immature intestines may even put their lives at risk again. A life preserved through medical treatment should not be lost due to poor nutrition. Donor milk is an option to enrich the first nourishment of these newborns' lives.

Recent studies have shown that the risk of necrotizing enterocolitis in tiny babies is about twice as high when they are milk formula-fed versus donor milk-fed. We believe that it is our responsibility to make the human milk bank system widely known and establish a structure where the families of babies can actually choose donor milk. We will do everything in our power to create a better future with better nutrition.

Message from Executive Director
Nurturing the Future, Embracing Small Lives
With heartfelt hopes for the lives and healthy growth of babies born small, we deliver the irreplaceable gift as donor milk.

Donor milk is more than just nutritional support—it brings comfort and hope to babies and their families.
At The Nippon Foundation Human Milk Bank, doctors, midwives, researchers, and administrative staff work hand in hand with generous donors, healthcare professionals, and families to protect the precious "relay of life."

We believe that our work not only supports each baby's present, but also contributes to their future health and potential.
To ensure that every baby who needs it receives safe and high-quality donor milk, our team is dedicated to delivering this heartfelt nourishment with great care and sincerity.

Furthermore, we are committed to raising awareness of the role and importance of human milk banks, and to building an open and inclusive organization where everyone can feel safe and involved. Transparency in our operations is central to this mission.
